The full trailer for the live-action version of Nickelodeon's "Avatar: The Last Airbender" series has arrived.
The trailer opens with ships sailing through an open sea before vignettes from the new "Avatar" show appear onscreen. "I'm the Avatar and I'm gonna save the world with my friends," Aang says in the trailer, which brings some characters to life with the use of CGI.
The plot follows the young Avatar, Aang, as he learns to master the four elements — Water, Earth, Fire and Air — to restore balance to the four nations that once lived in harmony before "everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads," reads Netflix's show description.
Watch the trailer below:
"With the current incarnation of the Avatar yet to emerge, the world has lost hope. But like a light in the darkness, hope springs forth when Aang, a young Air Nomad — and the last of his kind — reawakens to take his rightful place as the next Avatar," per Netflix.
"Avatar: The Last Airbender" follows air bender Aang (Gordon Cormier) and two newfound friends Sokka (Ian Ousley) and Katara (Kiawentiio), along with siblings and members of the Southern Water Tribe as Aang embarks on an action-packed quest to save the world. Daniel Dae Kim also stars in "Avatar" as the Fire Lord Ozai.
The showrunners of the original Nickelodeon series, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, previously departed from their involvement in the live-action remake on Netflix due to creative disputes. The duo have since begun work on an animated movie through their studio and have a film slated for release in 2025.
The first season of the series premieres on Netflix on Feb. 22.
